This is boutique Bordeaux at its best …
The Bourlon family have been sharing their wines with us for years – in fact, theirs was the first Bordeaux Tony Laithwaite ever sold back in the early 1970s. That’s how you get exclusive access to this barrel-aged 2015 release.
Tucked away in the sought-after Saint-Emilion satellite village of Puisseguin, the Bourlon family’s estates are hailed as “top châteaux” in the region by wine writing legend, Hugh Johnson. And that world-class quality has really soared in recent years, thanks to the Bourlon family’s collaboration with renowned consultant, Michel Rolland.
Here’s our man in Bordeaux, Jean-Marc Sauboua, on what you can expect in your glass: “2015 was a fantastic vintage, where the fruit was perfectly ripened and the concentration is high. And I think this is a lovely example. You will find those trademark, silky tannins working in perfect harmony with flavors of rich plum and toast. Enjoy it now or put it down for a few years – it has great potential for aging.”
