“Spain is firing on all cylinders,” says Wine Spectator – and Rioja is home to the country’s most famous wines. Though still best known for its reds, Rioja has been steadily building a reputation for zippy, modern whites. We’ve never tried a white (any white) from the Chavarri family – experts in the region for over 100 years – that wasn’t fantastically fresh. And this tasty new release is no exception.
Decanter magazine was taken with the inaugural release, writing: “A really charming number with plenty going for it, particularly at this bargain price. There’s a pleasant freshness that runs throughout, with notes of zesty limes, wet stones and sweet white peaches; a very pretty wine indeed.”
Nothing shocking about that review at all – the Chavarris' winemaker, 20-year veteran Ventura Lasanta, knows exactly how to capture the pure fruit flavors that make white Rioja one of the most deliciously satisfying whites out there today. And he's really worked his magic on the 2016 (as you'll taste if you get your orders in quickly!).
Inspired by a fun tale about a shark, this crisp, lemon-laced Viura blend is THE white for seafood – from simple grilled fish to classic, shrimp-filled paella. Limited cases imported – don't delay!
