The critics are still raving about California’s 2015 vintage, and wine merchants across the U.S. are now rushing to snap up the best of the remaining bottles. Which means now more than ever, it all comes down to who you know if you want the biggest bang for your buck.

Our scout on the ground, Clare Tooley (who has one of the most enviable Rolodexes around), happens to be very good friends with the talented Reed Renaudin, who makes “exceptional bargains,” according to top critic Robert Parker. Parker goes on to say that “shrewd consumers should be buying [his wines] by the case load.” We heartily agree.

Over a few vintages, Reed’s Prospector red – which he makes exclusively for us – has struck gold (in the form of medals!) at some of the U.S.’s top wine competitions. And we can’t wait to see how much critical “bullion” the 2015 will scoop up (watch this space).

Flavor-packed Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Malbec, and Syrah deliver mouthfuls of ripe black cherry fruit with lovely, spicy oak notes. All that character that will really come alive if you decant about 30 minutes before serving. Serve with hearty beef dishes or enjoy on its oh-so-smooth own.
