The original Black Stump’s beating heart has always been a healthy dose of the very rare, jet-black Durif grape (aka Petite Sirah). The variety is also one of Alan’s favorite grapes and helped build his family estate’s reputation for making unique, world-class wines. Therefore, he decided to make the anniversary release 100% from Durif.
The results speak for themselves. Crafted from Alan’s finest parcels of Durif (grown during the excellent 2019 vintage, no less), The Black Stump 50th Anniversary red overflows with dark chocolate, black fruit, and toasty spice flavors. While big reds fans can indulge in sipping it solo, it makes a delicious partner for barbecued meats, hearty pastas, and other bold, full-flavored dishes.
