2015 was a fantastic harvest in much of the world – and northern Italy fared especially well. In fact, JancisRobinson.com calls it “an exceptional vintage” in Piedmont that “shows great promise.” And your perfect taste comes from one of the region’s most historic families.
The Sartiranos have been a byword for premium Piedmont wine since 1871. Today, with fourth-generation Paolo Sartirano at the helm, the family has a more devoted following than ever. Luckily for you, we’ve been good friends with the family for years, so we were able to secure an allotment of this lovely release (which is usually all grabbed up by the locals).
Sourced from the best hillside vineyards surrounding their family estate, Paolo's rosso is made from only the ripest, most flavorful grapes: Nebbiolo (the grape responsible for Barolo and Barbaresco, Piedmont’s famous reds), Barbera, and more. It's expressive and complex, with a deep garnet color and a juicy-ripe, red-fruit character, accented by touches of spice and velvety tannins.
This is a perfect match for truffle-leek risotto, braised pork, or a grilled pizza with Cippolini onions, wild mushrooms, and bacon. Do order your share quickly to avoid missing out.
