When you hear "Napa Valley," chances are your first thought is "Cabernet Sauvignon." But thanks to a movement among innovative (and quality-conscious) winemakers, zippy Sauvignon Blanc from this famed corner of the Golden State is slowly gaining a following (move over, New Zealand and France!).
You can tell your friends you got in on the trend early, with this stunning find from our good friend Matt Praetzel.
Sourced from top hillside plots across the region (hence the name!), Rolling Valley is an aromatic, robust white that delivers a lovely mouthfilling weight. The luscious tropical fruit characters of kiwi and guava shine through brilliantly in your glass, thanks to Matt's wise choice in leaving the wine unoaked. And because the excellent 2016 vintage was so warm and dry, the vines had to really struggle to find water - which translates to seriously intense and concentrated flavors in the grapes.(Which is good news for you!)
Great to unwind with after a long day, and also perfectly at home on your dinner table. We love it with whole-roasted red snapper and Mediterranean vegetables, linguini (try it topped with fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, and olive oil), or local goat cheese with sesame crackers.
