Last year, our California expert, Clare, scored a major Napa coup. Those lucky enough to snag a case will remember the delicious Cab from an iconic winery in the über-premium Stags Leap District. If you missed out then, you won’t want to hesitate now.
A few months ago, Clare received another phone call. Another small parcel of Merlot was available from the same producer for a quick sale. They’re known for their Merlot, which was especially delicious in the stellar 2014 vintage.
We were offered an amazing price, with two conditions. First, they needed payment from us up front. Done. Second, a non-disclosure agreement had to be signed. This winery has multiple 100-point scores from you-know-who, and a high-price reputation to protect. But thanks to Clare, you’re getting a serious insider’s deal. Here she is, on what you can look forward to:
“This is an exquisite example of Napa Merlot from the classic 2014 vintage. It was fermented in fine oak, then aged in barrel for 12 months. On the nose, it exudes complex aromas of ripe plum and creamy mocha – with a palate that’s full of dark fruit flavors and toasty oak, overlaid by silky tannins. This full-bodied, decadent Stags Leap Merlot will develop further complexity over the next five to 10 years.”
Word to the wise: with a tiny harvest in 2015, it’s unlikely we’ll be able to repeat this deal next year. Just 30 cases remaining – hurry.
