Orginially from Crotia, Primitivo has had ahome in Southern Italy for thousands of years. This primitivo was cultivated in the heart of Sonoma Valley. In the last decade, DNA testing has confirmed thar Primitivo is very closely related to Zinfandel and like its brethren, this release boasts medium body, dark fruit flavors and earthy elements of spice and pepper.
Aromas of dark fruit with hints of violet and herb make their way to the palate through the nose. Juicy blackberry, cherry and spicy pepper flavors play along the perimeter of the tongue, while the middle palate exposes dark cocoa with a light smoke finish. Drink now or age another 6-8 years. Pair with grilled fare.
