The vineyards owned by Tiganca Winery are part of the Valul lui Traian wine region, in an area that includes localities from Leova, Cantemir, Cahul, Comrat, Ciadir-Lunga, Taraclia and Vulcanesti districts. The total area of the region includes 43,203 hectares of vines, of which, at this moment, 360 ha are owned by Tiganca Winery. It should be mentioned that Tiganca Winery is in a constant process of expanding its vineyards, giving great importance to the cultivation of local grape varieties and the preservation of the local technological process. The winery wants to revive the tradition of cultivating grapes for liqueur wines, which have contributed over time to the growth of Moldova's reputation abroad.
In 1999, the Dulgher family bought the "Tiganca" winery in the village of Plopi. Although it was in a disastrous state, the winery was equipped with the most important element to produce a quality wine - underground cellars with constant temperatures both in summer and winter, giving the wines a decent maturation.
The credo of the Dulgher family, to produce quality wines, unique in taste and aroma, imposed large, difficult, long-lasting but necessary investments. However, Mr. Peter and Mrs. Svetlana have always known that in winemaking everything starts from the vine, and the technologies only keep better what nature has created . They refused to buy fermenters, as other producers do, and opted for wooden tubs for the grapes to breathe, for air to enter them.
