2015 is officially considered one of the best vintages in years across the wine world – and the ancient southern village of Corbières enjoyed its finest harvest in years. If you’re quick, you’ll get a chance to taste for yourself …
Direct from the cellars of 19th-century Château Villenouvette and local star Marc Dubernet (“one of the prime movers in the renaissance of Southern French winemaking,” says Decanter), this rich, warming red is a smooth blend of Carignan and Syrah from vines up to 60 years old. Given six months in fine oak, the Cuvée de Réserve is one of Marc’s favorite wines to make.
His passion is obvious to all who drink it, including some of France’s toughest wine show judges: this release boasts three top gold medals from the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, Concours International de Lyon and leading French wine guide Gilbert & Gaillard. Look forward to an invitingly aromatic nose (super-ripe blackberry, thyme, black pepper) and layers of toasty black fruit and wild herb flavor on the palate.
Ideal with hearty stews, roasted meats and more. Limited cases.
