Bordeaux lovers have never had it so good. Hot on the heels of 2009 is the excellent 2010. Leading international critic Steven Spurrier says that, "… not just in my opinion, 2010 is looking like THE greatest Bordeaux vintage so far …" and your perfect taste comes the Cigana family’s small, fifth-generation estate. It also comes with serious acclaim, winning silver medals at the Concours de Bordeaux 2011, Challenge International du Vin 2011 and the LA International Wine & Spirits Competition.
Today, Gérard Cigana is at the helm of his family’s château. He attributes the success of this delicious release to an ideal combination of natural influences (soil, sun and ocean breezes) plus family know-how in the vineyard. In 2010, the sun really shone on his 35-year-old vines.
Château Marin is made from smooth, plummy Merlot (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) for firm structure and an appealing black fruit edge. Expect aromas of red currant, black plums and blueberries, with ripe plum and red berry fruit flavors, complemented by a smooth, rounded texture. Pair with leg of lamb, a fine, juicy filet or aged cheese (try Parmesan). Gérard recommends you decant before serving to help release the wine’s full aromas and flavors.
