Sylvie and Vincent Levieux’s vision of producing a new kind of Bordeaux is, after more than a decade, coming sharply into focus. “We want to balance the traditional, classic style with more modern, fruit-forward characteristics,” says Sylvie. Well, their efforts have paid off deliciously – Château Labatut has been raking in international acclaim.
This historic estate sits in the eastern most part of the Entre-deux-Mers region, and was built during the Hundred Years’ War (from the impressive defense towers, guests are treated to a spectacular a view of their sun-soaked vineyards, spanning 100-plus acres). Our man on the ground (the ever-connected Jean-Marc Sauboua) is good friends with Sylvie, so she agreed to give our customers a special deal on their 2014 Prestige Cuvée. And just wait until you taste it.
Crafted with Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it’s smooth, dense and full. Look for ripe, but subtle, notes of strawberry, black currant and blackberry, with lifted hints of violet. The previous release was awarded a gold medal at the (very) tough local show – so we’re expecting equally great things from the 2014. Decant before serving with roast pork, lamb or beef.
The Levieuxs keep their quality sky high by making only small batches – so order today. We can’t wait for you to taste this exciting new find.
