A classic blend of silky, juicy Merlot and rich, well-structured Cabernet Sauvignon, Château Beaumont Les Pierrières is a personal favorite of our expert, Jean-Marc Sauboua (former winemaker for prestigious First Growth, Château Haut-Brion). Last vintage it scooped up a gold medal; and thanks to the “extraordinary” 2015 vintage (James Suckling), this new arrival is every bit as classy (maybe more!).
It’s crafted by the Filiatreau family, who have spent the last 30 years growing the château’s international reputation. With only 45 vineyard acres to maintain, the family can easily focus on quality in a way that the much larger estates can’t. And you’ll taste that expert craftsmanship in the glass.
Look forward to enticing aromas of fresh dark fruits and soft violet. The flavors follow on with smooth layers of black currant and raspberry, plus a dash of earthy spice. Incredibly food-friendly, this red will pair well with anything from grilled pork chops to roast chicken and vegetables.
Drinking beautifully now, but will cellar well for a few years, this one’s definitely worthy of a special meal.
