The “road” to silky-smooth richness ends right here with this hugely acclaimed Spanish red.
Unearthed by our Spanish wine expert, Beth Willard, “Camino de Seda” is from the cellars of rising winemaking star, Mireia Altimira. It’s her homage to the famed “silk route” that once ran right through the sun-drenched vineyards of Jumilla. In fact, her premium Monastrell grapes (aka Mourvèdre in France) grow in an old vineyard that’s encircled by mulberry trees – which happen to be the silk worm’s favorite dwelling.
It’s a luscious treat for sure. And, it’s really wowed international judges, scooping a stack of top awards, including three gold medals and 90 points from the Decanter World Wine Awards.Judges loved its “attractive notes of pepper and spice, touch herbal with ripe raspberry. A lovely and fresh palate with dense and firm tannins.”
Just the thing for a grilled lamb kebab or a plate of charcuterie and cheeses. But you’ll want to grab your share soon, before our limited bottles are snapped up by thirsty Spanish wine fans …
