From California’s oldest premium winery, Buena Vista, founded in 1857, enjoy this exclusive, meticulously crafted Pinot Noir. The fruit was picked at night, sorted twice, gently pressed and spent eight months in fine oak. Packed with black cherry and spice, it’s as colorful and impressive as the estate’s founder, “Count of Buena Vista,” Agoston Haraszthy de Mokesa.
He arrived in Sonoma just after the Gold Rush, to find in Carneros the ideal spot for his “purple gold.” Considered the father of the Californian wine industry, the Count established Buena Vista in beautiful Carneros (on a ranch that already bore the name). Today it thrives as part of Burgundy's acclaimed Boisset house (who have world-class Pinot Noir running through their blood).
Carneros is the coolest, windiest region in Napa and Sonoma, known for wines withintense, vivid flavors. Breezes and fog from the San Pablo Bay are ideal for developing the complex flavors of Pinot Noir … as you'll taste.
Full-bodied, aromatic and well-balanced with ripe black cherry and a spicy finish, this is a lovely red to partner game dishes in particular. Try with roasted quail (wrapped in bacon with juniper berries), duck or roast pork served with red cabbage. Also great with grilled salmon.
